The TBJP on Saturday said that the move of providing 12 percent reservation to poor Muslims in the State would adversely affect the interests of the BCs.Speaking at a dharna organized at Indira Park by party’s frontal organization OBC Morcha, TBJP president K Laxman said that it was time for all weaker sections in the State to launch a united fight against the government to achieve their lawful demands and get their legitimate rights.Laxman said Chief Minister KCR was not speaking about the enhancement of reservations for BCs in the State. It is nothing but insulting to the BCs, who constitute 54 percent of the population, he said.

Referring to the Muralidhar Rao commission report, Laxman said it had been recommended to the then government in the undivided AP to provide 44 per cent reservations to BCs.During 2014 polls, Chief Minister KCR had promised that he would enhance the reservations’ quota to 50 per cent, but so far nothing has been done in that direction, he added. MLC N Ramachandra Rao said providing reservations to anybody based on religion would not be acceptable. The State government is adopting policy of appeasement towards the minorities, he said.
