Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao said that the State government has issued the GO No 94 allocating Rs 4,900 crore to Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme.
Addressing a review meeting with engineers and other officials of irrigation department here on Saturday, the Minister said that the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme would provide water to five lakh acres. The government was taking measures to protect crops in each acre in the State.
The Minister said that he reviewed the status of works of various irrigation projects in the State, including Gundlakamma, Handri-Neeva Srujala Sravanthi-1 (Kurnool), Handri-Neeva Srujala Sravanthi-2 (Anantapur, Madanapalli), right and left canals of Polavaram project, Thotapalli (Vizianagaram), Vamsadhra (Srikakulam) and Veligonda (Prakasam).
He also said that they could monitor works of the projects up to date with the help of drones and using other technology. The Minister also wanted employees of irrigation department to shift to Vijayawada.
Chief engineer Venkateswara Rao said the irrigation department had set weekly targets of works of irrigation projects and was reviewing the status of works using advanced technology.
