Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley on Friday described the newly-carved State as a role model for other States in achieving sustained growth.When the national growth remained static in single digit, Andhra Pradesh could achieve 6 per cent to 7 per cent more than the national average, Jaitely said Addressing the 21st edition of the Partnership Summit jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh government and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Arun Jaitley said, “the Centre has some vested interest in encouraging development in Andhra Pradesh.
We will not only fulfil the commitments made at the time of bifurcation but will also go a little further as there is more scope for growth.” In two years, Andhra Pradesh became vibrant with manufacturing and services activities. After Polavaram irrigation project is commissioned, the State will lead in agriculture and allied activities in a big way, Jaitley said.
The Finance Minister said the recent policy changes at the Central and State levels in India have made the country the best place to invest, despite protectionism followed by the developed countries.He described how the historic changes like introduction of GST, Jan Dhan and demonetisation would bring in more transparency in business and trade in the country.Jaitley, who is busy preparing for presentation of the budget to Parliament on February 1, obliged Naidu’s request to attend the partnership summit in Vizag.
In his keynote address, Union Minister for Urban Affairs M Venkaiah Naidu said this was an era of cooperative federalism and broader reforms were being introduced to accelerate development with transparency. Praising Andhra Pradesh for achieving double digit growth, Venkaiah said sanctioning process would be expedited to create a friendly environment for investors.Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman said India was at the cusp of development and there was a lot of vibrancy though the global economy has been facing a depression.
